Bam! Rays are in a slump. Lost 5 out of the last 6. Yesterday was the first time in those six games that the Rays have given up less than 5 runs. Offense struggling. Ramos, Kiermaier, Hechavarria out to name 3. Duffy is back, that's a good thing. Adames is back too, also a good thing. Whatever Adames was doing, the team was playing well with him and Bauers around.

Rays need a win. This is the Marlins after all.

Nathan Eovaldi RHP (3-4, 4.59)

Anybody remember the 2008 season? Before the All-Star break the Rays went into a 7 game losing streak. Last four games got swept in Cleveland. My Yankee and Red Sox friends proclaimed it was over and had the obituary written. Rays bounced back with a 2-1 win over the Blue Jays behind James Shields.

Our pitching went into the dumpster for the Twins series. Hope that was just a temporary blip on the radar. Maybe mental and physical fatigue setting in? Maybe the Twins were just red hot? I have faith that Kyle Snyder can get the pitching back on track. I believe in Kyle Snyder. I pray to Kyle Snyder. (Okay no I don't...)

The scouts will be at the Trop to watch Eovaldi.

Let's put on a good show Nathan!!

So I saw a preview of "Who Is America?", some really over the top pranking by this Sacha Baron Cohen dude. Probably stepping into controversy here but I was laughing like crazy, also angry, practically crying, or even embarrassed and disgusted at some points of the promo video. But mostly laughing. The series started on showtime Sunday night. I don't have showtime.

I've heard that some his stuff is rude and crude and way too far over the top to have any kind of relevance. Other reviews say it ends up a bit banal, since reality is more shocking and unbelievable nowadays than stuff you can make up. Cohen disguises himself as different characters, one of them Dr Billy Wayne Ruddick Jr. He interviewed among others, Sarah Palin, Joe Arpaio, Bernie Sanders, Dick Cheney, and in the promo some gun rights advocates. He embarrassed some of these people if that's possible.

Here's a letter Dr Billy sent to Sarah Palin:

See if these links work. Anybody see the show?

Blake Snell LHP (12-4, 2.09) Which numbers do you want on Blake Snell? How bout his June numbers (3-1, 1.74) or July (2-0, 0.61). Blake's put himself into the Cy Young picture though yes it is a bit early yet. Yes Luis Severino is having a great year-- but in the words of the immortal Satchel Paige, "Don't look back. Something might be gaining on you."

Yup Willy sent down. No he wasn't setting the world on fire but the team sure was while Willy was here and whatever reason-- maybe just a good luck charm, maybe some new excitement for the team... I hope it doesn't cause the Rays to lose some of the edge they've had. Chih-Wei Hu brought up... Chih-Wei not having a great year in Durham for some reason. I still look at Hu as a strong prospect though, a grinder type who, once he gets settled in could provide steady help in the pitching department.

Rays with the opportunity to finish strong before the break... then in the second half-- watch out!!
